1

Introduction

Mzansi Jobs is a South African job and career platform. We respect privacy and aim to process personal information responsibly, transparently and in accordance with applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 where it applies.

This policy applies to the Mzansi Jobs website, user accounts, employer tools, job alerts, CV-support enquiries, company profiles, vacancy pages and related services.

2

Who is responsible for your information

Mzansi Jobs acts as the responsible party for personal information it determines how and why to process. Technology providers may process information on our behalf for hosting, authentication, databases, communications, analytics and security.

Employers and recruitment organisations linked from Mzansi Jobs may separately determine how they process information submitted through their own application systems.

3

Information we may collect

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers and profile photographs.
  • Account type, authentication identifiers and preferences.
  • Province, city, career interests and preferred job locations.
  • Skills, qualifications, profile summaries and availability.
  • Company names, websites, logos, industries and contact details.
  • Vacancy information submitted by employers or administrators.
  • Job-alert preferences, feedback, reports and support messages.
  • Browser, device, page-view, click and approximate-location data.
  • Information supplied for CV or career-support services.
4

Accounts and authentication

Registration may require a name, email address, password, account type and profile details. Authentication may be provided through email and password or a supported provider such as Google.

We do not receive your Google password. Information received from a sign-in provider depends on the permissions and details made available by that provider.

5

Job-seeker profiles

Job seekers may provide a professional headline, biography, skills, qualifications, preferred categories, preferred locations, availability and an optional CV link.

Job-seeker profiles are used to provide account functionality and may support future saved-job, recommendation or application-tracking features. Profiles are not automatically made public merely because an account is created.

6

Employer and company profiles

Employers may provide a company name, website, logo, industry, company size, description, location and business contact details.

Approved company profile information may be displayed publicly. Personal login credentials and internal account information are not intended for public display.

We may restrict, suspend or remove employer accounts or company profiles that appear misleading, unsafe, unlawful or inconsistent with platform requirements.

7

Job alerts and communications

Job-alert subscriptions may include your email address and preferences. This information is used to send requested vacancy updates and service-related communications.

You may unsubscribe from promotional or job-alert messages. Essential account or security messages may still be sent where necessary.

8

How we use personal information

  • Create, authenticate and manage accounts.
  • Provide job-seeker and employer profile features.
  • Publish and manage vacancies and company profiles.
  • Send requested alerts and account communications.
  • Respond to enquiries, reports and support requests.
  • Provide CV and application-support services.
  • Prevent fraud, spam, abuse and unauthorised access.
  • Measure and improve website performance.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.
9

Reasons for processing information

Information may be processed because it is necessary to provide a requested service, because you consented, because processing is required by law, or because there is a legitimate operational or security reason that does not unjustifiably interfere with your rights.

10

Service providers and information sharing

We may use service providers for authentication, hosting, databases, analytics, communications, storage, payments and security. They may process information to perform services for Mzansi Jobs.

We may disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect users, rights or platform security. We do not intend to sell personal information as a standalone commercial product.

11

Storage and security

Mzansi Jobs uses Firebase services for functions that may include authentication and database storage. Access controls and security rules are used to restrict information by authentication status, account type and ownership.

No online service can guarantee complete security. Users should protect their passwords and notify us if they believe an account has been compromised.

12

Imported vacancies and external applications

Some vacancies may come from employers, public sources, recruitment feeds or automated integrations. Vacancy pages may link to external employer or recruiter websites.

External organisations process information submitted through their systems under their own privacy terms. Verify the application destination before supplying sensitive details.

13

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Cookies and similar technologies may be used to maintain sessions, remember preferences, measure performance, understand traffic and support advertising where enabled.

Browser settings may allow you to restrict cookies, although disabling required cookies may affect authentication or other features.

14

Information retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, operate accounts, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, maintain records and satisfy legal obligations.

Deleted information may remain temporarily in backups, logs or records that must be retained for legitimate or legal purposes.

15

Processing outside South Africa

Technology providers may operate infrastructure or support services outside South Africa. Information may therefore be processed or stored in another jurisdiction.

Where cross-border processing occurs, we aim to use suitable service providers and safeguards consistent with applicable requirements.

16

Your rights under POPIA

Subject to applicable law and identity verification, you may request confirmation, access, correction, deletion or destruction of personal information where legally applicable. You may also object to certain processing or withdraw consent where consent is relied upon.

Some requests may be limited where continued processing or retention is permitted or required by law.

You may lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe your information has been processed contrary to POPIA.

17

Children and young users

Users who are legally unable to consent to the processing of their own personal information should use the platform only with appropriate assistance or authorisation where required.

Contact us if you believe a child's personal information has been supplied inappropriately.

18

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when platform features, service providers or legal requirements change. The revised version will be published here with a new update date.
