An established organisation is seeking an experienced Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Boksburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy commercial vehicles, with a strong focus on Volvo and MAN trucks . The ideal candidate will have approximately 15–20 years' experience in the diesel mechanic field , including a minimum of 10 years' hands-on experience specifically working on Volvo and MAN trucks . This role requires strong technical expertise, advanced diagnostic abilities, and the ability to support workshop operations. Minimum Requirements: • Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic qualification (Essential) • Approximately 15–20 years' experience in the diesel mechanic field (including apprenticeship training) • Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience working specifically on Volvo and MAN trucks (Non-negotiable) • Valid Code 8 driver's licence (Code 14 advantageous) • Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles within industries such as: • Heavy commercial transport • Freight and logistics • Long-distance trucking • Mining transport and logistics • Bulk haulage • Construction and plant hire • Truck dealerships • Rigging, heavy-lift, or specialised transport environments Key Responsibilities: • Perform advanced fault finding and diagnostics on heavy commercial vehicles. • Conduct engine overhauls, motor rebuilding, and major mechanical repairs. • Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs. • Diagnose and repair mechanical systems, including: • Engines • Gearboxes and transmissions • Clutches • Braking systems • Suspension and steering systems • Hydraulic systems • Maintain and service Volvo and MAN truck fleets. • Complete accurate job cards, maintenance reports, and workshop documentation. • Utilise workshop maintenance systems and computer-based reporting tools. • Assist with workshop operations and ensure efficient turnaround times. • Lead, mentor, and support junior workshop staff where required. Skills & Competencies: • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities. • Excellent mechanical and technical knowledge. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong leadership skills, with previous supervisory or workshop management experience advantageous. • Good administrative skills with strong attention to detail. • Computer literate with the ability to complete reports and documentation. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong planning and organisational abilities.
