Tax Assistant - EY RDS (FY26-FY27)

Job Title: Tax Associate – Indirect Tax & Payroll (South Africa) Location: Mauritius (supporting South African clients) Service Line: Indirect Tax & Payroll Compliance Role Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our Indirect Tax and Payroll team, supporting South African clients. The role involves end-to-end VAT compliance, payroll tax processing, and client service delivery in a deadline-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review VAT returns in line with SARS requirements Perform VAT reconciliations, including input/output VAT analysis Manage monthly payroll tax compliance, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL submissions Ensure timely e-filing submissions and payments to SARS Review and validate client data (AR/AP schedules, payroll inputs) Handle tax registrations, deregistrations, and amendments Support SARS queries, verifications, and audits Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve queries and ensure accurate reporting Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready working papers Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Good communication and stakeholder management skills What We Offer Exposure to a wide portfolio of South African and international clients Opportunity to develop expertise in VAT and payroll compliance Structured learning and career progression Collaborative and fast-paced working environment
