Dis-Chem require a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for their Langenhoven store. Perform specified duties under the direct personal supervision of a Pharmacist in the dispensary. To provide excellent customer service. Essential: • Grade 12 Mathematics (HG), Life Science and or Physical Science obtain at least an average of 50% • Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant Qualification • Computer, numerical skills Advantageous: • Unisolv, and E-Scripting Job Description: • A pharmacist's assistant registered in the category pharmacist's assistant (post-basic) may perform the following services or acts under the direct personal supervision of a pharmacist in a pharmacy: • The sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines. • Assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile or sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and Standard Operating Procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist • The re-packaging of medicine • The distribution and control of stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances • The reading and preparation of a prescription, the selection, manipulation or compounding of the medicine, the labelling and supply of the medicine in an appropriate container following the interpretation and evaluation of the prescription by a pharmacist • The provision of instructions regarding the correct use of medicine supplied; and • the provision of information to individuals in order to promote health • Learn to accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner and within the legal requirements in accordance with the South African Pharmaceutical Council • Capture patient details accurately and verify patient’s details • Ensure accurate picking, packing and labelling of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important drug interactions • Give accurate instructions to the patients regarding the correct use of medicine supplied • Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing • Ensure that all medication is checked for accuracy by a pharmacist and signed by a pharmacist • Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 medicines • Assist the re-packaging of medicine • To achieve minimum requirements to comply with MAPL • Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter and front-shop within the scope of practice • Provide information to individuals in order to promote health • To follow through on promises made to customers regarding special orders and to follows medical aid queries • Process all paperwork necessary for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids • Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid • Ensure authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medication • Maintain customer profiles on the system • Take note of any messages on the customer profile and take suitable action • Report on low or out of stock levels and stock errors to the responsible pharmacist • Assist with scheduled stock takes • Exercise stock and asset control • Receive dispensary stock in accordance with the standard operating procedures set out by the company and merchandise according to FIFO • Housekeeping must be in accordance with The Local Choice Corporate Stores standards • Adhere to The Local Choice Corporate Stores Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations • Adhere to The Local Choice Corporate Stores Uniform and personal appearance policy • Adhere to GPP standards • Assist in maintaining annual pharmacy declaration and CPD requirements • Sign up Loyalty Cards and link with the patient profile • Assist with Health Windows in ensuring it’s attended correctly • Assist with Blister packing in ensuring it’s executed correctly Competencies: Essential: • Good communication and listening skills • Focus on customer service • Problem solving skills • Team player • Conflict management, leading by example, accountability, professional conduct • Trustworthy and honest • Time management, adherence to deadlines, dealing with pressure • Attention to detail Advantageous: • Retail FMCG experience • 2 nd Language other than English Special conditions of employment: • Registered with Pharmacy Council • Physically Fit – standing for long hours • Driver’s license/ Reliable transport • South African citizen or valid work permit • Clear credit and criminal records Remuneration and benefits: • Market-related salary ONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.
